Trigger: Potential for salmonella
Announcement: Firm e-mail; per Dog Food Advisor [PDF]
What was recalled: ZooLogics Rooster and Vegetable Meals for Canine (manufactured Nov. 2, 2017) and ZooLogics Duck and Vegetable Meals for Canine (manufactured Nov. 16, 2017)

That is the most recent in a string of recalls for Darwin’s since fall 2016, all arising from issues about potential salmonella or listeria contamination.

On this most up-to-date case, firm founder Gary Tashjian defined within the firm e-mail that “most of this product has already been consumed, for the most part without incident.” He pinpointed the FDA’s “zero tolerance” for pathogens as the true perpetrator, “despite the fact that [pathogens] are at such low levels that dogs and cats typically can process them without any issue.”

Tashjian added: “Having said that, we take this situation very seriously. Our number one priority is providing your pet with meals that you can feel confident are healthy and safe.”

Darwin’s says it has already notified these clients who obtained any of the affected merchandise on this recall.
